Big 5 Safari

Big 5 Safari
browse (1 / 6)

A Big 5 Safari through one of the nine national parks in Malawi is an expedition to remember. In the north are the unique Nyika Plateau and the Vwasa Reserve with one a highland and the other a lowland marsh area. The central region of Malawi has two vast game areas in Kasungu National Park and Nkhotakota Reserve. The best known national park is Liwonde, along the River Shire, but there are also three game areas further south in Lengwe National Park and the wildlife reserves of Majete and Mwabvi.

Near the southern end of Lake Malawi is the world’s first freshwater national park at Cape Maclear. Lengwe National Park is home to the Nyala antelope, which is indigenous only to this park in Malawi. The Nyala antelope is normally shy, but it visits the Lodge and it is unique to the park. Not to be forgotten, the other animals make themselves known such as the wail of the hyena that is heard at night. Apart from the traditional Big 5, these parks are also home to over 300 bird species. A safari in Malawi is sure to be a memorable experience with plenty of game without the traffic. Choose your mode of safari from walking, horse riding, boating or driving in a 4x4 with expert guides. The scope of game watching gets bigger than five in this country where is there is plenty of wildlife.
